It's a pleasure to meet you :D

Hello.
It's nice to meet you! I'm Jenn, a Uni student from NZ, who's deciding to try out blogging as a new hobby! This is my first (ever) Blog post, which probably means that I'll get better as I go along, no promises :)
I've decided I should give everyone/anyone a preview into my life when I'm not quite as busy with uni work (I'm on a 2 week break, starting today).

I decided this holiday will be focussed around trying out cooking some meals (I need practice since I've only been living away from home for about a year..), trying out some fashion ideas, getting a bit creative, and of course, the ever-looming presence of studying in preparation for the second half of semester.. (Don't worry, I won't focus on that part of life in the blog!) I thought it would be fun to document some stuff that goes on, because the idea of writing a diary has always appealed to me, but I love how easy and interactive blogs are, especially the fact you can put lots of pictures in your posts!

In celebration of me starting a Blog (Or just the desire to eat chocolatey treats..) I baked some marshmallow double chocolate muffins. Excuse the camera quality, you'll have to bear with me until I actually have access to a camera that's better than my phone. Not sure when this will be, but patience is a virtue..
I feel strangely inclined to call them Spotty-Dog Muffins, not sure why..
The recipe isn't overly exceptional, so if by any chance you wanted to create these, just use your favourite chocolate muffin recipe (Or google it, like I did). Just remember, the key to delicious muffins is to never over-mix the mixture, and don't overcook them. If the appearance is very important, add most of the marshmallows/chocolate into the mixture, leaving some behind to put on top to make them look like they're simply bursting with stuff that will rot your teeth.. Did I mention I'm a bit of a chocoholic?

Now that I've tempted you with my baking prowess, it's time to take a glimpse into my fashion/ appearance, so when you see me on the street you can call out
"Hey! It's that girl with a Blog!"
But only if you want to.. haha..

I'm not gonna lie, that's really not the best photo of what I look like.. but the point is, the reason I'm even starting this blog is because I was really inspired by an awesome Blog called What She Wore 365. The point is, she wasn't really focussing on her face because the outfit was more important. This morning, I was thinking along the same lines, hence the photo. If you stick with me, I'll definitely put up more fashion related pictures, probably even showing my face a bit more!

I like this outfit because I'm a big fan of affordable, comfortable, but most importantly flattering fashion so that I can feel good all the time :)
The whole thing would have cost about $140 NZD (Roughly $110 USD) altogether, including bag and shoes, though often, my outfits add up to quite a bit less.
I'm not sure if it matters, since unless you're an NZ/Australian citizen, you're unlikely to know any of the shops, but this is where I got each piece.
Cardi: Glassons (2012)
Sweater: Valleygirl (2012)
Bag: Glassons (2008)
Navy dress: Dotti (late 2011)
Ambra Polar fleece-lined tights Smith&Caughey's (2012) (Amazing during the winter..)
Sequined flats: Kmart (2011)
(Opal necklace: JEGem 2011 (Gift from my boyfriend. You should check the range out, there's some beautiful stuff and it's reasonably priced, too!)) I don't know how much this was, so it doesn't count in the outfit :P

Currently, I seem to be wearing a lot of cream and navy during the winter, though spring is just around the corner, so my guess is that It's time to get me some clothes in pastel and florals!

Lastly, while I'm ranting on about my life, you should stay a while longer and see tonight's 'Let's pretend it's cheaper to eat out than make a meal' date at Elliott Stables
This place is really quite cool, found in central downtown Auckland (NZ's largest city), it's a kind of up-market food court with great choice, especially of European cuisine. I had an exceptional savoury Gallette a la forestiere (See:  Crepe with mushrooms and creamy sauce) from a place called Torchon Creperie, plus french onion soup and salad. The presentation was so cute that I just had to take a picture.
The boyfriend got pepperoni pizza from nearby DeNiro Restaurant, which he finished very fast, so it must have been pretty good, too :D

Cute little ceramic pots containing soup and salad <3
Mmmm Pepperoni.. In all its cheesy goodness!

Ok, well I think that ends my first ever Blog post! If you like it, please subscribe to this, I'll try not to disappoint you. You can leave any comments below, I would love to hear your feedback. Thanks for making the effort to get to the end!

-Jenn

  1. I just found your blog via What She wore 365. I just recently started a fashion blog as well, so as a newbie I will tell you to just keep it up! People will eventually follow, and even if they don't, who cares?! First and foremost I write my blog for me :) I'm excited to start following your blog and discover NZ fashion and shops! Check mine out too if you'd like!
